JAMMU, May 9: A Special Police Officer (SPO), who was injured in the firing by unknown persons at a STF post in Tanta area of tehsil Gandoh, district Doda during the intervening night of May 7 and 8, succumbed to his injuries at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), here today.
Another SPO Kikar Singh (35), son of Gyan Chand of Rela, tehsil Gandoh injured in the firing has been referred to PGI Chandigarh for advanced treatment.
“Mohammad Younis (35), son of Mohammad Rafi of Gwarhi, tehsil Gandoh has succumbed to injuries in the GMC Hospital here,” a police official at GMC Police Post said.
The body of the deceased has been handed over to family members after conducting postmortem.
IGP Jammu Zone Dr SD Singh Jamwal has ruled out the firing incident as militants’ attack, while investigation in the incident is going on after registering a case under relevant Sections at Gandoh Police Station.
Meanwhile, IGP Jammu Dr Jamwal has constituted a Special Investigating Team (SIT) to investigate the matter. The team comprises of Additional SP Bhaderwah Shaazad Salaria, SDPO Gandoh Sunny Gupta and Incharge STF Post Tanta.
