JAMMU: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today said the energy of the youth must be spotted and channelized through various sports activities.
The Minister said this while inaugurating 2-Day Volleyball Tournament at Gurha Mundian, Hiranagar. The tournament is being organized by the JKAC Sports Club in which 10 teams of district Kathua are participating.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister underscored the need for providing ample opportunities for excelling in various academic and extra-curricular activities both within and outside the State.
He said the State Government has always encouraged such activities from time to time so that window is opened for budding youth to excel at state and national levels.
The Minister said it is heartening to note that the students of the State have achieved several feats in different sports activities at national and international levels. “Our youth possess great talent and Government is trying its best to spot and explore the talented youth across the State,” he said. “We need to channelize the energy of the youth so that they can compete at national and international levels,” he said, adding that various programmes have been launched in the State to provide quality education to the students at their doorstep.
The Minister thanked the organizers for organizing such tournaments in the area and said that such events provide platform to the budding youth to show their hidden talent. He asked them to organize similar tournaments in other rural areas of district Kathua. Congratulating the participating players, Hanjura asked them to hone their skill which will enable them to participate in national and international levels.
A good number of sports lovers, prominent citizens including Sandeep Sharma were present on the occasion.
