JAMMU, Feb 4: Despite repeated representations endorses by former Deputy Commissioner and SSP of Samba, a SPO having done all the good work has not been regularized by the Police Headquarters.
In a representation to the Director General of Police, the then SSP Samba has requested the police chief to regularize the services of SPO Raj Singh (No. 450/DS) of District Police Samba as Follower in the Police Department as a special case for rescuing several civilians including security personnel from drowning and recovering bodies of the drowned people.
The then SSP had also arranged a meeting of the SPO with the DGP in which the SPO had himself apprised the top police officer of his brave work.
Additional DGP Police Headquarters Dr Shesh Pal Vaid had even recommended a cash reward of Rs 2500 in favour of the SPO for his diving skills and rescuing the drowning people apart from other skills.
The IGP Jammu has also given commendation certificate and cash reward to the SPO.
However, all pleas of Raj Singh for his regularization as Follower didn’t materialized. Recently, Police Headquarters had regularized the services of 175 SPOs but the name of Raj Singh didn’t figure in it.
Apart from the former SSP, the then DC Samba Mubarak Singh had also endorsed the name of the SPO for regularization in the Police Department.
