Spread message of non-violence: Manohar to GGF members

SRINAGAR, Sept 4:  Underlining the need for encouraging those volunteers who are ready to render their services for betterment of society, the Minister of State for Finance, Planning, Cooperative and Higher Education, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has asked the members of Gandhi Global Family (GGF) to spread the message of truth and non-violence of Mahatma Gandhi besides working for strengthening the secular character of the State.
The Minister was addressing at a function organized by GGF in connection with celebration of Foundation Day of the organization here today.
State President, GGF, Padamshree S.P.Verma and other senior functionaries of the organization which included  S.U.Temiri, Balbir Singh, G.M.Shah, Riyaz Ahmad and Haji G.N.Ganie were present on the occasion.
The Minister asked the members to organize symposiums at district, tehsil and block levels to sensitize people about the principles of the Mahatma Gandhi having relevance with present era and situation.
Dr Manohar said that some groups are trying to disturb peace atmosphere of the country by dividing people on religious  and regional lines and called upon members to stand firm against such anti-national elements.  “It is our collective responsibility to stop such elements from implementing their nefarious designs” said the Minister, adding that living together in peace was a part of Gandhian philosophy.
Appreciating the Union Government for passing Food Security and Land Acquisition Bills, the Minister said that such bold and visionary decisions which would have far reaching effects on the development of the country.
Earlier, S.P.Verma, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the activities of the organization.
S.U.Tamiri presented vote of thanks.
Later, the Minister awarded the district Coordinators of Kupwara, Ganderbal and Bandipora for the efforts they put in place for expanding the membership in their respective districts.
