Spurious drugs

Sir,
Refer news  item ‘Civil society protests against spurious drugs’ DE April 19.
The protests in the valley against supply of spurious drugs to Kashmir valley hospital should make the concerned authorities quite sensitive to health needs of people.
Even before spurious drug scam came to light, people usually did not have faith in hospital medicines as these were believed to be of sub-standard quality. Most of the times, people would purchase medicines from market. The rich and the educated would never use them being aware to some extent of drugs.
But people in remote areas have no alternative. They would use them, as medicines are not available there and people do not have to pay for them. They would use them, as quality medicines. The spurious drug scam has now shaken the faith of all sections of people in hospital medicines. The Health Department will have to work overtime to restore people’s confidence in the medicines available in hospitals.
Yours etc….
