There seems to be a spurt in road accidents in our state especially Jammu division and no accountability has ever been seen being fixed by the authorities. The traffic situation in Jammu city appears to be in a mess with many vehicles trying to jump the lanes creating jams , private transport drivers expected to be more careful as they ferry passengers , many are found stopping their vehicles in the middle of roads to pick up or drop a passenger creating traffic disorders.
There is unbridled use of horns unnecessarily and pressure horns by many vehicle owners. Two wheelers usually with one or two pillions over speeding from wrong sides most of whom have their ears plugged with music system sending invites to accidents are traffic hazards. Over it all there are many accidents now taking place in our hilly areas. The recent one claiming eight precious lives in Kishtwar and seven in Srinagar – Bramulla highway must force the authorities to come up with proper traffic management and accidents controlling policies. Enforce traffic discipline sternly, please.
