JAMMU, Mar 20: Shri Ram Chandra Mission (SRCM), Jammu Centre organized a prize distribution function here.
The function was organized to felicitate students who had participated in the All India Essay Writing Event-2015 and bagged first, second and third positions in both Hindi and English languages in category 1 (classes 9 to 12) and category 2 (UG and PG) in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir zone.
Shishir Mishra, Director General Police Coordination (J&K) was the chief guest on the occasion and the function was presided over by Surender Sharma, Zonal Coordinator, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Awadesh Kumar Singh, DGM, State Bank of India was the guest of honour.
The function started with welcome address by Yuri Handoo, while a session on technique of relaxation and meditation was conducted by Sister Vandana.
The students who were awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were Pooja Sharma MD-2nd year (Jammu Institute of Ayurved and Research, Pragya Mahajan- MTech-3rd sem (Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University) and Deepika Bhagat, PG English Department 1 sem.(SMVDU), Akhilesh Sharma BTech 3rd year (SMVDU), Ankush Sharma, BSc 3rd year (GGM Science College) and Deepika Sharma 3rd sem (GDC Kullu). Aakankshi Padha, 12th class (Sacred Heart School, Dalhousie), Panini Sharma, 9th class (Jodhamal Public School) and Simran Koul, 10th, (SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Jammu), Arya Razdan 10th (Delhi Public School), Avni Saini, 10th (Heritage School) and Aakriti Sharma, 10th class (Heritage School).
The institutions whose students were awarded Certificates of Merit included MIER College, Government College for Women, Jammu College of Physiotherapy, GGM Science College, Government Degree College, Ploura, Commerce College, Government Degree College, Kullu, Hindi Department, University of Jammu, JK Montesorrie, Army Goodwill Public School, Luthra Public School, BSF Senior Secondary School School, GGHS School Mubark Mandi, St Xavier Convent, Green Model Academy, GHS School, Nagrota, Army Public School, Dalhousie Public School, Hill Top Public School Dalhousie.
Zonal Co-Ordinator, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Sharma threw light on topics of the event, which was organized by SRCM in partnership with United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) for India and Bhutan with active involvement and support of forward and open-minded institutions.
The chief guest in his address said that spiritual values can bring peace, harmony and brotherhood in the society.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Brother Adarsh Sharma, Essay Writing Event coordinator.
