Sri Lanka secures $200 mln from World Bank

COLOMBO, Oct 7 : Sri Lanka secured $200 million from the World Bank’s IDA for Phase 2 of the Resilience, Stability and Economic Turnaround (RESET) programme, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said on Monday.
This funding will help in the economic reforms for stability, growth and protection of the vulnerable, the PMD added.
The agreement was signed by Sri Lanka’s Finance Secretary K M Siriwardana and World Bank’s Country Director David Sislen.
Meanwhile, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with Asian Development Bank (ADB) Takafumi Kadono, Country Director, who reaffirmed the ADB’s commitment to Sri Lankan economic recovery.
“The key areas of focus are tourism, energy and support for small-scale entrepreneurs where the ADB will aid tourism in the Northern region,” the PMD said.
