NEW DELHI, Apr 18: The prestigious Simon Wiesenthal Center’s International Leadership Award was conferred recently on Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in a ceremony at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles.
The Center’s award, whose past recipients include former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Tom Cruise, was presented to Gurudev for promoting human dignity, interfaith relations and tolerance among people.
“Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been not just a friend but a partner in our efforts to combat terrorism and promote tolerance education,” said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean of the Human Rights organization who presented Gurudev with the award.
The ceremony saw the presence of several Government officials, Congressmen, Mayors and Council Members of 28 cities across California, and Ambassadors of Japan, Sweden, Myanmar, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, Italy, Czech Republic and Turkey.
Speaker of California State Assembly later hosted a reception in honour of Gurudev where the Assembly members presented him with a proclamation commending all the work that The Art of Living has done in California.
