JAMMU, Mar 19: Congress-led UPA Government has sold out the most secured runway of Srinagar Airport.
This was stated by BJP National Secretary, former MP and party’s Scams Committee National Incharge Dr Kirit Somaiya, while addressing a press conference here today.
Dr Somaiya said that the Defence Ministry and CBI findings confirmed the apprehension that the Srinagar Airport is in danger.
BJP in August 2011 had also submitted complain in this regard to Defence Minister AK Antony, he added.
“We recently met Defence Minister, senior officials of Defence Ministry and CBI in Delhi and Jammu on this issue and they confirmed that land mafias in connivance with the officials from Defence and Revenue Ministry, J&K were indulged into most sensitive defence land scam of Srinagar Airport.
“30 per cent land of Srinagar runway has been transferred and NOCs were issued in the name of private persons i.e. land mafias”, he alleged.
Dr Jitendra Singh, BJP State chief spokesperson and National Executive Member disclosed that the CBI and the Defence Ministry have themselves confessed through their recent investigation, that very high officials of Defence were involved in Srinagar Airport land scam.
Dr Singh added that 200 acre Srinagar Airport land scam amounting to 1000 crore rupees is the first ever scam in the country involving defence land.
Among others present were BJP Cells State Prabhari Sat Sharma and State press secretary Balbir Ram Rattan.
