Srinagar in UNESCO’s network of cities

New concepts and parameters are set towards promoting international cooperation between cities thus giving a practical shape to the vision of bringing the world together and too close. In that what matters , among other variables and parameters, is how local art, culture, creativity, crafts, folk art, design, literature of varied hues and the like played respective roles in order to project the same vividly and share with other cities and people.
Tourism , undoubtedly, plays its cardinal part in proving to be a conduit , mode and means to connect such creativity with people, cities and societies to lend special and unique place to a particular city. In this connection, UNESCO plays as a facilitator’s role and that of an appropriate global agency to record the same based on such parameters as make it eligible to be included in the network of creative cities. In this connection, it is heartening to note that among the freshly 49 cities inducted into creative cities’ network, summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir – Srinagar, too finds a niche and place therein hence a matter of joy for the people of the UT and the country as well.
