SRINAGAR : Traffic has been resumed after remaining suspended since yesterday afternoon on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only road connecting the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country.
Traffic was allowed from Jammu to Srinagar this morning, a traffic police official said. No vehicle will be allowed from Kashmir as only one-way traffic will continue on the highway.
The highway was closed yesterday in the afternoon due to slippery road conditions following fresh snowfall on both sides of the Jawahar tunnel.
However, majority vehicles which had left different parts of the Kashmir valley, including Srinagar, had crossed the tunnel area when the highway was closed. Only one-way traffic will continue on the highway till further orders to avoid traffic jam and accidents, he said. (AGENCIES)
