Srinagar peaceful, militancy free: IG CRPF

SRINAGAR, Oct 3: Inspector General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Ajay Kumar Yadav today said that Srinagar is a peaceful district and there is no militancy here.
Speaking on the sidelines of CRPF All Women Motorcycle Expedition 2023 which was earlier flagged off by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha from historic Lal Chowk, the IG CRPF Srinagar sector said today’s crowd at Lal Chowk reflects a peaceful atmosphere.
“You are today in Lal Chowk and there is a big gathering of people around ..where is the terrorism ..There can be no better peaceful atmosphere anywhere else,” he said.
Asked whether there was any militancy in Srinagar, the IG CRPF said that today a mega flagging off event was held in the heart of Srinagar. “Where is terrorism? District is peaceful,” he said.
The IG said the women force of the CRPF is also performing their duties during security operations, patrolling and Road Opening Procedure (ROP) operations along with their male counterparts vehemently.
“Today, we saw LG Manoj Sinha flagging off women bikers to Gujarat from Lal Chowk. Our women cops are taking part with their counterparts in counter insurgency operations, airport security, road opening parties (RoPs), jail security and other sensitive operations,” Yadav said.
He said the women wing of CRPF is tirelessly participating alongwith their male counterparts of the forces in every event.
The CRPF officer said the women force of CRPF is also taking part in the anti-militancy operations and other security purposes with which they are connected.
The IG CRPF said to conduct such an event is just to bring the women folk in the CRPF mainline besides to boost their personal belief and self-confidence.
To a query whether Kashmiri women can also join CRPF, the IG CRPF said: “Yes, Kashmiri women can join the force in any category.”
About the bike rally, he said that the event is a sign of women power and it sends a message that women can achieve anything they wish. “This is a sign of women empowerment,” he said.
