Srinagar records first sub-zero night temp of season

SRINAGAR, Nov 14: Srinagar today recorded the first sub-zero night of the season with Meteorological Department forecasting light snowfall in North Kashmir hills by weekend.
A Meteorological department said that mercury settled at minus 0.9 Degree Celsius against previous night’s 0.1 Degree Celsius.
The temperature is below minus 2.1 Degree Celsius than the normal for this time of the year in the city and was lowest so far this season.

Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.2 Degree Celsius against previous night’s minus 1.0 Degree Celsius. It was minus 2.5 Degree Celsius below normal for the place.
Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 3.5 Degree Celsius, same as on previous night and normal of minus 1.2 Degree Celsius.
Kokernag recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.3 Degree Celsius against 0.4 Degree Celsius the previous night.
Kupwara recorded a low of minus 1.3 Degree Celsius against minus 1.1 Degree Celsius the previous night.
Gulmarg, recorded a minimum of minus 1.8 Degree Celsius against minus 2.0 Degree Celsius the previous night.
Leh recorded a low of minus 7.2 Degree Celsius against last night’s minus 7.1 Degree Celsius while mercury settled at minus 3.0 Degree Celsius against minus 3.2 Degree Celsius last night in Kargil.
The MeT office has said that the weather shall remain dry in plains for at least till November 20 in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
For next 24 hours, the official said there would be mainly dry weather over the plains and “very light snow at one or two places on higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir.”
“A feeble Western Disturbance is likely to affect the region during November 21-23rd which may cause light to moderate snow over higher reaches especially northern parts of Kashmir, the MeT office said.”
