Srinagar records season’s coldest night at -3.6°C

Srinagar, Dec 16: Kashmir continues to reel under intense cold weather conditions with Srinagar recording coldest night of the season at minus 3.6 degree Celsius while Weatherman has forecast dry weather conditions for next 10 days.
A Meteorological department official said here that Srinagar recorded a low of minus 3.6°C against the previous night’s minus 3.2°C. The mercury was around 2.6°C below normal during this time of the year for the place and it was the coldest night of the season so far.
Qazigund recorded a low of minus 3.4°C against minus 3.6°C on the previous night. The temperature is 2.3°C below normal for the town.
Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 5.3°C against minus 5.6°C the previous night and it was 1.9°C below normal for the tourist resort.
Kokernag recorded a low of minus 2.1°C against minus 1.3°C as on the previous night and it was 1.°C below normal for the place.
Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 2.5°C against minus 3.0°C on the previous night. It was 1.7°C above normal for the skiing resort.
In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at minus 3.6°C against minus 3.2°C on the previous night. It was 1.9°C below normal for the place.
Leh recorded minus 11.0°C and Kargil minus 12.3°C.
The MeT department has forecast mainly dry weather till December 25 and during this time the night temperatures are going to plummet further.
