Srinagar, Dec 7: Srinagar witnessed the season’s coldest night at minus 4 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperatures across the State continuing to drop today.
A Meteorological Depart-ment official said that the temperatures dropped due to clear night sky. However, he said that during next 48 hours, the State’s higher reaches are likely to receive light snow as a Western Disturbance is expected to become active during this period.
The minimum temperatures in Srinagar, Pahalgam and Gulmarg were minus 4.0 degrees Celsius, minus 6.0 degrees Celsius and minus 6.2 respectively, respectively.. The day temperatures at these places were 11.0 degrees Celsius, 9.1 degrees Celsius and 5.3 degrees Celsius respectively.
In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded 7.3 degrees Celsius, Katra and Batote 7.5 degrees Celsius, Bannihal 5.2 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 0.5 degrees Celsius as the night’s lowest temperatures. The maximum day temperatures at these places were 22.2 degrees Celsius, 19.6 degrees Celsius, 15.8 degrees Celsius, 15.1 degrees Celsius and 13.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.
