SRO-123 a tool merely to harass private school operators: MPEJ

JAMMU, June 7: Alleging that SRO 123 is simply a tool in the hands of bureaucracy to harass and exploit the hapless private school operators, Movement for Peace, Equality and Justice (MPEJ) has urged the Education Minister Naeem Akther to look into the genuineness of the SRO at the earliest.
In a joint statement issued here today, the active members of MPEJ, Kuldeep Kumar Rao and Ram Singh Chauhan said that a large number of private schools operators under the guise of SRO 123 are being harassed by Education Department, forcing them to fulfill the lengthy formalities which the Government schools cannot do in next 50 years.
“To add salt to the wounds of private schools, the outgoing Director School Education Jammu, while returning the recognition files of various schools, has shown granting of recognition to more than a dozen schools up to 2018 when the hard fact is that under SRO 123, all the required formalities can never be fulfilled by private schools”, they added.
They further said that the joint inspection conducted by JKBOSE, Education Department and Joint Committee of Recognition/Affiliation of BOSE and Education Department may be treated as final for granting extension of Recognition/Affiliation to Schools.
“Requiring separate order of extension of Recognition from Secretariat causes un-necessary delay coupled with harassment”, they said and appealed the Education Minister to look into this menace personally and take remedial steps without further delay.
