SRTC Drivers Association holds meet, highlights demands

JAMMU, June 3: Aggrieved over the callous and indifferent approach by the management towards the drivers of the Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JK SRTC), the drivers gathered in the Tourist fleet at Railway Station Jammu and organized a meeting under the chairmanship of S Didar Singh, president SRTC Drivers Association, here today.
The Association highlighted its pending demands which included cancellation of any type of under claims against various drivers with immediate effect, releasing of pay to the drivers put on off duty, promotion of experienced drivers having completed 25 years of services as inspectors, up-gradation of drivers regularized in 2009, setting of fixed working hours for drivers, with incentives for overtime duty, fixation of minimum consolidated pay at Rs12000 per month and regularization of drivers who have completed 8 years of service and incentive for night stay.
During the meeting, the office bearers elected from Tourist Fleet of JK SRTC included Mohinder Singh, president; Gurdeep Singh, vice president;  Surinder Singh, general secretary; Manjeet Singh, general secretary; Omkar Singh, secretary; Davinder Singh, chief organizer;  Amarjeet Singh,  cashier and Jagdish Singh, cashier.
