SRTC workers hold protest, serve ultimatum to Govt, management

JAMMU, Aug 22: All J&K SRTC Workers Association today held a protest demonstration and served seven days ultimatum to the Government and SRTC management to consider their long pending demands.
Hundreds of SRTC workers led by Ashok Mehra, president, All J&K SRTC Workers Association, assembled in the SRTC management office at Bikram Chowk and raised slogans against the Government vis-à-vis SRTC management.
Addressing the gathering, Ashok Mehra alleged that the Government and the SRTC management have turned deaf ear towards their demands, compelling them to come on road and hold protest.
“Conduct DPC, release DA and regularize consolidated drivers”, were the demands voiced by him.
“If our demands were not redressed in next seven days, then we will decide further course of action and for any untoward incident, the Government and the SRTC management will be responsible”, Mehra warned.
Among others who addressed the gathering were Paramjeet Singh, general secretary, All J&K SRTC Workers Association, Farooq Ahmed, president, SRTC Workshop and Darshan Lal, president, SRTC Conductors Association.
