SSA for formation of Minority Commission

JAMMU, Oct 22: A meeting of Sikh Societies Amalgamate held under the chairmanship of Gurdeep Singh Sasan its chief patron in which the socio-economic and political problems being faced by the community were discussed.
Addressing the meeting Mr Sasan appealed the Chief Minister to immediately issue the notification for the formation of Minority Commission in J&K. He alleged that the members of Sikh Community in the State are deprived of their fundamental rights and benefits under various schemes which are enjoyed by their community embers in other parts of the country.
Mr Sasan said the State is not covered by NCM Act of 1992 whose Section 1(2) States that the Act extends to the whole of India except J&K and it is an injustice with the minorities in the State.
He demanded amendment in the Act so that it is applicable to J&K also. He also demanded recent amendment to Anand Marriage Act validated in J&K.
He further demanded sufficient representation to Sikhs in PSC, SSRB, Judiciary and other statutory bodies, formation of J&K Welfare and Development Board for PoK refugees, special employment package, formation of minority financial corporation and declaration of transport as industry.
