Pertinent to mention that Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh had also taken up the demand of SSA teachers before the Governor for a positive consideration.
Meanwhile, following assurance of the Governor, members of Teachers Joint Action committee (TJAC) today called off their indefinite chain hunger strike, which was being observed at Press Club Jammu and Srinagar for the last about one month.
The decision to call off the strike was taken up by Chairman TJAC Abdul Qayoom Wani, Vinod Sharma (State president ReT Forum), Ganesh Khajuria (State general secretary JKTF) and Gazi Abdul Aziz (Chairman ReT Forum) after the meeting was held between the Governor and Abdul Qayoom Wani.
Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmed Ganie personally visited the venue of hunger strike at Srinagar and offered juice to the fasting teachers, whereas Director School Education Jammu Rakesh Srangal visited the venue of hunger strike at Press Club Jammu and offered juice to protesting teachers.
The TJAC leaders hoped that the Government would also come up with de-linking of SSA salary from MHRD to the State budget soon as the committee is already working for the same.
