JAMMU, Feb 6: The head teachers of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA) upgraded middle schools in Leh district are without salary for the last four months.
Despite repeated pleas of the aggrieved teachers to concerned authorities in this regard, nothing has been done for release of the salary except lip services and passing buck to others.
So far, the aggrieved teachers have approached concerned Zonal Education Officer, Chief Education Officer, Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Councilor also for their salary, which has not been released since October 2012. The situation has resulted into hardships of these teachers, who are finding it difficult to meet routine requirements of their families and feed them.
The aggrieved teachers have appealed the Education Minister and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally look into the matter and ensure that their pending salary is released immediately.
