SSB jawan among 2 killed, 7 injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Oct 12: Two persons including a jawan of Seema Shastra Bal (SSB) were killed while seven others were injured today in separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, three jawans of SSB 5th Batallion, who were presently posted at MA Stadium, Jammu, were injured, one of them grievously, when a bike bearing registration number JK02AW-5506 on which they were travelling got slipped near Shakuntla crossing around 1.30 am today.
He said the injured jawans were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, were the seriously injured jawan namely Constable Ali Mohd (24) son of Mohd Din, resident of Surinsar, succumbed to his injuries around 5.45 in the morning. “After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased jawan was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites”, he added.
“The other two injured jawans have been identified as Constable Tariq Hussain (24) son of Mohd Rashid, resident of Lam (Nowshera) and Head Constable Rakesh Kumar (30)”, the spokesman further said.
Meanwhile, a one-year-old male child identified as Rajinder son of Hira Lal, resident of Chatterpur (MP), at present residing in Muthi (Jammu), sustained serious injuries this afternoon after he came under a car at Sector 1 Roop Nagar, when the vehicle was being taken out by its driver from his house premises, as the child was standing outside the gate of his house.
The injured child was shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment but he succumbed to his injuries at about 5.45 this evening. The body of the deceased child was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for postmortem.
Three youths identified as Nitesh Kumar (30) son of Pritam Singh, resident of Padder, Jayesh Verma (20) son of Gursevak Verma, resident of Kathua and Joginder Singh (20) son of Girdhari Lal, resident of Padder, were injured when two bikes on which they were travelling, collided with each other near Jammu University. They were also shifted to GMCH for treatment.
In Muthi area falling under the limits of police station Domana, a mini-bus hit a bike and injured its pillion rider namely Shantaji (70) wife of Radhay Krishan, resident of Jagti (Nagrota). Similarly, an unknown vehicle hit a bike and injured its rider namely Avinash Singh (22) son of Anchal Singh, resident of Satriyan Khurd (RS Pura) at Bus Stand flyover. Both the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment.
In all cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
