Lockdown in Nowshera, SDH contained
14 new COVID cases in Ladakh

JAMMU, July 15: Fifty seven persons including two SSB jawans, a Jammu and Kashmir Bank official, a police constable and another staffer of soft drinks company at Bari Brahamna today tested positive for Coronavirus in Jammu region while authorities imposed lockdown in Nowshera town and contained the Sub District Hospital (SDH) Nowshera after a storekeeper tested COVID positive. The storekeeper, however, escaped to Poonch and was brought back this afternoon. A FIR has been lodged against him.
Sixteen persons tested positive for Coronavirus in Jammu district.
They include an elderly woman from Bhagwati Nagar, eight-year-old child from Channi Himmat, 25-year-old woman from Trikuta Nagar, teen-ager from Model Town, 32-year-old male from Trikuta Nagar, teen-ager from Nanak Nagar, 46-year-old woman and 38-year-old man from Talab Tillo, 32-year-old from Bihar who had reached Akhnoor, middle-aged truck driver from Garkhal near Akhnoor with travel history of Jallandhar, 46-year-old male from Swaran Vihar, Bantalab who had returned from Anantnag, young police constable from Patoli Brahamna with travel history of Bhaderwah, a youth from Ropar, Punjab, 25-year-old youth from Handwara, 40-year-old from Punjab and 38-year-old who had returned from Dehradun.
A bank was closed in Udheywalla on the outskirts of Jammu as staff said that an Agriculture Department official who died yesterday of COVID had visited the bank branch.
Authorities imposed lockdown in Nowshera town and contained the Sub District Hospital (SDH) Nowshera after storekeeper of the hospital, who is a local from the town, tested positive for the virus but was untraced for more than 12 hours as he was picnicking with three friends at Dera Gali in Poonch and had also stayed in a local hotel there for the night.
The storekeeper was tested positive during random sampling but when his report was received last evening he had left for picnic with three friends. He was finally traced at Dera Gali this morning and was shifted to COVID facility. His three friends were quarantined for sampling. Other contacts of the storekeeper are also being traced.
The hotel in which the storekeeper along with his friends had stayed has been contained. The staffers will be subjected to COVID testing. A FIR has been lodged against the storekeeper.
In the meantime, the district administration has contained the SDH Nowshera and all staff members of the hospital have been isolated till sampling and report of the results. The hospital will be reopened after complete sanitization. Lockdown has also been imposed in Nowshera town for random sampling and testing for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, three more persons including a Jammu and Kashmir Bank employee were today tested positive for the virus in Rajouri district. The Bank employee had returned from Srinagar while two others had travel history of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar
Twenty four persons today tested positive for COVID-19 in Samba district including six workers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, one more staffer of a soft drinks company and an Army soldier, SSP Samba Shakti Pathak told the Excelsior.
The workers returning here from Bihar, UP and other States are being quarantined at Samba.
The soft drinks company’s worker who tested positive belonged to Ward No. 10 Bari Brahamna. With this, a total of 59 employees of the Company have tested positive for COVID so far.
Other positives of Samba district include 80-year-old woman from Ward No. 5 Vijaypur, 40-year-old man of Surankote with travel history of UP, 51-year-old man from Chak Mohdyar who had returned from Punjab, an Army soldier from Kothi Manasan, Vijaypur, 43-year-old from Kundanpur, Bari Brahamna with no travel history and a youth from Jasarkot, Udhampur. Rest all were travelers.
District Magistrate Samba Rohit Khajuria today declared Garh Mandi, Gurha Salathia in Vijaypur and Ward Nos. 1 and 2 of Kundanpur, Panchayat Birpur in Bari Brahamna as Containment Zones after Corona positive cases were reported from there.
Six persons including a woman tested Corona positive in Ramban district today.
The 33-year-old positive woman hailed from Batro Pogal and had returned from New Delhi. Another Delhi returnee tested positive in Ramban and he belonged to Chanderkote aged 58. Two persons from Red Zone village of Chandrog reported positive for the virus including an 18-year-old boy and a 50-year-old man.
Two other positives of Ramban district were 36-year-old man from Chanderkote and 23-year-old youth, who happened to be contact of a positive employee of private Railways company.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Mohammad Fareed Bhat said all six positives of Ramban district have been shifted to COVID hospitals and all of them are stable.
Four persons today tested COVID positive in Doda district including two SSB jawans posted at Khellani.
Two other positives of the district include 23-year-old male from Bhaboore and a 30-year-old man from Baramulla who had come to Doda.
A 35-year-old man from village Khanetar in Poonch was lone COVID positive case of the district today. Three travelers in Kishtwar and one in Udhampur tested positive for COVID-19 today.
Eight patients were today treated and discharged from the Chest Diseases Hospital, Bakshi Nagar, Medical Superintendent Dr Rajeshwar Sharma said.
Meanwhile, 14 more persons today tested Corona positive in the Union Territory of Ladakh taking total number of Corona cases to 1142.
However, active Corona cases in Ladakh dropped to 177 as 18 more patients recovered.
