JAMMU, Nov 24: Shree Sanatan Dharm Natak Samaj (SSDNS), Dewan Mandir (Jammu) staged a Hindi play ‘Dedh Roti’ at its premises.
Congress candidate for Jammu East, Vikram Malhotra, was the chief guest while Rajinder Kakkar, Managing Trustee of Dewan Badri Nath Trust, was the guest of honour.
The play written by Jagdish Sharma and directed by Sat Paul Sharma and Rajinder Kumar Narang, is based on a social theme and depicts the cruel behavior and irresponsible attitude of the society towards an innocent youth, namely Chandan Singh, who was fabricated in a false theft case.
The play profoundly shows how society plays a role in determining and even altering the life of a person who is falsely implicated in a criminal activity and how this social pressure in turn affects the people related to him. Chandan Singh is portrayed as an innocent person who is blamed and convicted because of social influences and red tapism.
The artists who performed in the play were Subhash Jamwal, Rajinder Kumar Narang, Dilshad Shaji, Kamal Parihar, Avni Jain, Shashi Bhushan, Aashish Bhat, Mohit Khajuria, Devanshu Raina, Sandeep Sharma, Ajay Baba and Sanjay Sharma.
The music was rendered by Sat Paul Raina, makeup was done by Neha Mehra, costumes were maintained by Vinay Daggar and the sets were designed by Ramnik Gupta and Anoop Giri.
