JAMMU, Nov 25: To discuss various issues related to the industrial units in Jammu, a delegation of Small Scale Industry Association (SSIA) Digiana met with Director Industry & Commerce, Jammu, Arun Manhas here today.
The delegation holds discussion over the uncertainty prevailing of existing working industrial units and units under substantial expansion due to the non-availability of state/central fiscal incentives at par with the new units.
The delegation led by Ved Sharma, Co-convenor BJP All cells & Secretary Association, drew the attention of the Director Industry towards the notification issued by the Central Government, which is a New Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharma informed that under this scheme, a GST-linked incentive of 300 per cent on the investment in plant and machinery has been granted to new units to be established on or after April 1, 2021.
However, no gross GST reimbursement incentive has been given to existing units who opt for substantial expansion, resulting in stiff competition being faced by the existing units from new units.
President Jatinder Aul requested for an enhancement in the budgetary allocation for the reimbursement of turnover incentives to existing units.
Director, I&C Arun Manhas gave a patient hearing to all the issues highlighted by SSIA members and assured the delegation that all the issues will be resolved for the survival of the existing industrial sector.
Vice President Sanjay Chopra, executive members Jasvinder Manocha and Subash Goswami were also the part of delegation.
