DODA, Sept 14: SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom here today inaugurated a Special Cell in Women Police Station Doda for the women affected with violence.
The Special Cell has been established in collaboration with National Commission for Women (NCW), New Delhi and Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Doda said that Special Cell will provide a safe passage and space to women for reporting their grievances and seeking assistance besides ensuring more gender sensitive approach to law enforcement agency.
“This initiative will definitely provide immediate response in case of family violence or atrocities against women, police assistance in registering complaints, counseling, referral for seeking other services like medical, psychiatric, educational, legal aid through concerned authority and many more services for the care and protection of women besides rebuilding, self respect and dignity of women,” he further said.
Dy.SP Hqrs Doda is functioning as Nodal officer of the Cell while two professional Social Workers –Afia Nazir and Monika Parihar were deputed by NCW are also part of the Cell to provide legal aid, counseling and other assistance to the women affected by violence.
