SAMBA, Aug 9: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anil Magotra today presented a cheque of Rs 9.75 lakh to the widow of a selection grade constable, who died due to prolonged illness while serving in district Samba.
SSP handed over the cheque to Devo Sharma, wife of Sgct late Vijay Kumar, a resident of Salehar, Tehsil Bishnah under Jammu and Kashmir Police Welfare Fund.
While speaking, SSP stated that the said fund introduced in J&K Police is a benevolent fund contributed by and intended for the benefit of all ranks of J&K Police and their families/dependents.
He informed that immediate payment of a relief to the tune of Rs 25,000 was already provided to the family of Late Shri Vijay Kumar at the time of his death and now after receiving the remaining amount from Police Headquarters J&K, the same has been handed over to Devo Sharma.
