SAMBA, July 28: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba, Benam Tosh has directed SHOs and in charge Police Posts (PPs) to treat complainants with due respect at Police Stations and Police Posts.
These directions were given by the District Police Chief, Samba while chairing a crime review meeting at District Police Headquarters which was attended by Additional SP, Samba, Surinder Choudhary, DySP Headquarters, Garu Ram, SDPO, Bari Brahmana, Rahul Nagar, SDPO Vijaypur, Rohit Kumar, DySP, DAR Ajay Anand, Senior PO, Gurpreet Kaur, all SHOs, all in charge PPs, all MHCs/ MCs, all Investigation Officers and readers of the district.
Giving important instructions at the crime review meeting, SSP Samba, Benam Tosh urged the supervisory officers to ensure that there is proper mechanism in place at all Police Stations and Police Posts to examine the complainants. SSP asked the SHOs and In charge PPs to personally examine the complainants in the presence of a Police Station/Police Posts level board comprising of highly experienced professional Police officers and MHCs (Munshi) so as to ascertain the nature of complaint whether cognizable or non-cognizable and take appropriate action under law.
Benam Tosh asked all the officers to create such a people-friendly atmosphere at every Police Station/Police Post as would fascinate the complainants to come to the police and share their grievances without any hesitation.
SSP Samba further directed the SDPOs, SHOs and In charge PPs to ensure that no innocent person is harassed while conducting investigations and no innocent is falsely implicated in any case.
SSP Samba said that to look into women’s complaints, besides Women Cell at Samba, there is Women Help Desk established at every Police Station and women complainants be accorded great respect at the Police Stations and Police Posts.
