ST Deptt imposes penalty of Rs 1.93 cr on defaulters

*Generates revenue of Rs 98 cr in Kathua

KATHUA, Sept 5: The Enforcement wing of the State Taxes (ST) Department at Lakhanpur ( Kathua) has imposed p06nalty to the tune of Rs 1.93 crores on the defaulters while Kathua Circles (I&II) of the ST Department generated a revenue of Rs 98 crore during first quarter of this year.
An official spokesman said that Deputy Commissioner, State Taxes Enforcement Lakhanpur reviewed activities of the Enforcement wing Lakhanpur and circle Kathua -I &II for 1st quarter/5 months and observed the remarkable collection of penalty and other activities.
The Enforcement wing, Kathua, headquarters Lakhanpur imposed and recovered penalty the tune of Rs. 1.93 cr from the defaulters under J&K GST Act 2017 and the State Taxes Department of Circle Kathua – I &II has realized revenue for the 1st quarter to the tune of Rs 98 crores.
Besides, Enforcement wing organised various events and participated in them. The officers of the department did hard efforts not only to apprehend the tax evaders by recovering huge amount of penalty but also spreading awareness regarding GST after launch of tax awareness initiative. The department has established a `Suvidha Kendra’ in the office of the State Taxes Circle -I & II wherein the information and guidance is given to the masses/traders. The office of the Deputy Commissioner State Taxes registered an increase in revenue realization of 74% as compare to the last fiscal year.
The whole exercise was carried out by the staff of Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Enforcement Lakhanpur and Circle I & II Kathua under close supervision Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Enforcement Lakhanpur Ranjeet Singh under overall supervision of Addl. Commissioner State Taxes Namarta Dogra and Dr Rashmi Singh, Commissioner State Taxes Department.
