KATHUA, Feb 2: The alert team of State Taxes (ST) Enforcement Department foiled an attempt of smuggling banned polythene at Gate Way of J&K, Lakhanpur near ,here today.
The Deputy Commissioner, State Taxes Enforcement, Ranjeet Singh said that when they put a truck bearing Registration Number, HR55A J1664 on routine checking they found 37 big packed polythene bags hidden under the other items. The truck with banned polythene was seized on the spot, he added.
He said that the seized material and truck will be handed over to Pollution Control Board (PCB) for legal action as the Department is authorized to take legal action in this regard. He said that Sales Tax team is always alert to put a check on import of unauthorized items. This is possible random checking keeping in view the load of trucks entering in J&K, he added.
