DODA, Jan 4: Shortage of staff at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Gandoh has badly hit the patient care.
As per sources, non-availability of specialist doctors like anaesthetist, surgeon, gynaecologist, paediatrician, ophthalmologist, surgeon ENT etc at SDH Gandoh has badly affected the patient care.
The Hospital is supposed to meet medical needs of over dozen villages near Gandoh.
“The Hospital is also facing shortage of paramedical and other medical staff,” locals of the area claimed adding that CHC has no manpower to tackle the rush of patients as only few staff members remain present there.
“Patients are facing hardships due to lack of doctors at the SDH and are being compelled to visit District Hospitals at Doda or Kishtwar and sometimes even to Jammu for treatment,” they said.
“Out of 17 posts of doctors, 10 post are lying vacant as the influential doctors have got themselves attached to their parent districts,” sources said adding: “Even for a minor surgery, the patients has to visit District Hospitals in Doda or Kishtwar.”
Locals appealed to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to direct the concerned authorities to depute medical staff including surgeons at the SDH Gandoh so that people may heave a sigh of relief.
