JAMMU, Oct 12: Stressing on sensitizing the consumers about their rights, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal today exhorted upon all the stakeholders to work in unison for safeguarding the consumer interests.
Divisional Commissioner was speaking at a meeting with the officers of the concerned departments, representatives of the various oil companies and members of Consumer Welfare Association here today.
The Divisional Commissioner took a detailed review of the availability of the essentials during the festive season and directed the concerned officers of CAPD to strictly monitor the quality of essential commodities and their rates. He asked to ensure availability of LPG and directed the concerned officers of oil companies to sensitize the consumers regarding the subsidy and DBT scheme .He also emphasized on home delivery of LPG and said that accurate measuring instruments should be made available to check the right weight of LPG in the cylinder.
Dr Kotwal directed Jammu Municipal Corporation to intensify market checks and ensure quality edibles reach the consumers. He also stressed on ensuring proper sanitation during the festive season.
Taking a review of the Aadhar card enrollments, Dr. Kotwal directed the concerned officers to speed up the process of issuance of Aadhar card so that the same can be linked with LPG connection.
Responding to the issue raised regarding installation of meters in the autorikshaws and display of rate lists, the chair was appraised that the rate lists for auto fares has been put on display at prominent places and 2500 autorikshaws have been metered so far and the process is been expedited.
The other issues that came up for deliberations include rates of setup boxes and checking of advertisements on the local channels etc.

Jamwal, Joint Commissioner JMC, Anoo Malhotra, Additional Commissioner Commercial Taxes, Amar Singh, Joint Controller Legal and Meteorology Department, Atam Dev Singh, Deputy Director Consumer Affair and Public Distribution Department and representatives of various departments.
