JAMMU, Jan 17: The Departmental Related Standing Committee (DRSC) of Legislative Council today directed the officers of Power Development Department (PDD) to gear up field functionaries and ensure effective implementation of Centrally sponsored flagship programmes so that the people of the State get benefitted.
The Committee, which met today under the chairmanship of MLC, Ravinder Kumar Sharma here, discussed and reviewed the overall functioning of PDD including physical and financial achievements under various schemes.
The Members Jehangir Hussain Mir, Bashir Ahmed Magrey, Nizamudin Khatana, Syed Mohammad Rafiq Shah and Ali Mohammad Dar gave their valuable suggestion for the improvement in the working of the department.
The panel sought detailed report on progress registered under RGGVY in various constituencies for its scrutiny. It directed to complete all ongoing projects under the schemes in a time bound manner.
The Committee asked the concerned to achieve the fixed targets in full and conduct survey to identify hamlets without electricity . The Panel called for curbing power thefts and strengthening the checking squads to curb the menace.
The meeting also held threadbare discussion on total number of consumers registered, targets achieved under RGGVY and RAPDPR, status of Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan, expenditure on purchase of power during 2010-11, 2011-12 and current year.
Detailed discussion was also held on augmentation and repairing of damaged transformers, low transmission and high transmission lines. The Committee directed the PDD to ensure early repairing of damaged transformers.
Earlier, Principal Secretary, PDD Arun Kumar Mehta briefed the Committee about the progress and activities of the department.
Among others, Development Commissioner Power Manzoor Ahmed Salroo, Director (Planning) PDD Riyaz Ahmed Banday, Chief Engineers of various wings of the department and others officers and Engineers of PDD besides senior officers of Council Secretariat including Deputy Secretary, Mohammad Maqbool Bhat attended the meeting.
