KATHUA, Apr 27: The standing wheat crop spreading over 25 kanals of land was destroyed at two places in Kathua district in fire today.
All the hopes of two farmers were dashed to ground as the ripe wheat crop which was to be harvested within days now was razed to ground.
According to reports the standing wheat crop on 15 kanals of land belonging to Ram Lal of tehsil Marheen in Kathua district was destroyed after catching fire while the standing crop over 10 kanals of land belonging to one Vijay Kumar was also destroyed in fire today.
The cause of fire was reported short circuit of power lines running over the fields.
