Start 2nd Katra-Jaipur, another regular train for Haridwar: JCCI

‘Provide Divisional status to Jammu Rly Station’

JAMMU, Aug 7: Extending gratitude to the Modi Government for developing Jammu and Udhampur Railway Stations with world class facilities, the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry today demanded Divisional status like Firozpur for Jammu Station and operation of regular second train from Jammu to Haridwar besides starting another train between Katra-Jammu and Jaipur, to facilitate the pilgrims and general public.
In a meeting of the Jammu Chamber held here today under the chairman of Arun Gupta, its president, the office bearers expressed their gratitude to the Union Govt headed by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India for including the Railway Stations of Jammu and Udhampur for redevelopment with world class facilities.
Chamber also thanked the Union Minister of State in PMO, Dr Jatinder Singh and Jugal Kishore Sharma, MP with whose efforts the Railway Stations of Jammu and Udhampur will get world class facilities.
Arun Gupta further said that the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme involves preparation of Master Plans and their implementation in a phased manner to improve the amenities at the stations like improvement of access to the stations, circulating area, walnut halls, toilets, lifts and escalators besides cleanliness, free Wi-Fi etc.
JCCI president further requested Dr Jatindra Singh to take up the matter with the Railway Ministry that Jammu Railway Station should get the Divisional status like Ferozpur though it has been announced years back but no further steps have been taken in this regard.
Gupta also said that only one train is running between Jammu-Haridwar on daily basis. Although a new train has been started but it is running for two days a week. The people of Jammu are travelling Haridwar frequently to perform religious rituals but due to availability of train for 2 days only they are facing lot of inconvenience. The Chamber demands that this train should be operated on daily basis.
JCCI chief further said that at present only one train is running between Jammu and Jaipur where from thousands of pilgrims visit Katra for pilgrimage from Rajasthan. There is utter need to introduce new Super Fast trains from Rajasthan especially Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bikaner for facilitation of Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage.
Chamber also demanded that few new trains and some existing ones be restricted exclusively up to the Jammu Railway Station and visitors be encouraged to travel to the City of Jammu keeping in view its historical importance and in order to give boost to the economy of this City of Temples.
