State budget proposals invite mixed response of Association of Industries

Jammu, Mar 23: Association of Industries has evoked mixed response over the annual State budget, presented by Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu yesterday.
A meeting of the Association of Industries was held today under the chairmanship of Rajesh Jain, for discussing important aspects of the budget proposal. The members opined that certain good initiatives with regard to Industry have been taken but many important issues were left undressed. Initiatives such as formation of land bank for industry, continuation of remission of VAT, contemplation of amnesty under GST Act 1962 for waiving of interest and penalty etc are welcome steps, they said.
However, at the same time, meet observed that many important issues such as upgradation of power infrastructure in industrial areas, reduction of electricity duty, grant of ownership rights to State subject industrial entrepreneurs for which the Finance Minister had agreed during pre-budget discussion, were left undressed.
Other issues like reduction of stamp duty and registration fee charges, creation of separate treasuries for industrial sector, amnesty scheme by the PDD were also left unattended, the members pointed out and said that they were looking forward to have early decision on these pending issues, which shall facilitate the industrial growth and lead to increased employment opportunities.
The meeting was attended by Bansi Lal Gupta, Ashok Kumar Jain, S B Abrol, Vijay Sharma, Sanjeev Vig, Virendra Jain, Bipin Sharma, Ramesh Sethi and others.
