This has reference to the article ‘The State vrime graph’ DE Dec 7.
The increase in crime rate in the State during last year is a matter of concern and should not be taken lightly by the stakeholders. It should stir the civil society members, police department and religious preachers.
The increase in crime rate reveals that society is deviating from its traditional values and moorings. The author has very well attributed it to increasing materialistic tendencies in the society. Rather, the crime rate is directly proportional to incrase in wealth.
The Police Department too needs to study the cause of such an increase, and take remedial measures instantly. If that does not happen, it will be difficult for people to live a secure and dignified life. People will lose faith in police, and would like to live by the diktats of the goons, and robbers.
There is urgent need to redress this issue at the earliest, so that it may not be late tomorrow.
