State land retrieved on directions of SVC

SRINAGAR, Apr 20: The State Vigilance Commission (SVC), while acting against land encroachers, got restored a chunk of State land from the illegal possessors at Baghwanpora, Srinagar.
Acting on a complaint by the residents of Cement Kadal Srinagar, regarding encroachments and illegal constructions over the State land at Baghwanpora, Cement Kadal, Ward No 18, by some persons with active support and connivance of Revenue and other concerned authorities, the SVC had directed Tehsildar (West) Srinagar to enquire into the matter and submit a factual and action taken report before the Commission thereof.
The requisite report submitted prima-facie revealed that State land (Siri Sarkar), measuring more than 14 kanals at Baghwanpora, Srinagar was encroached and different structures including some shops were raised thereon. But by timely action taken by the Tehsildar Iddgah, Srinagar in response to the directions from the SVC in the matter, these illegal structures raised over a portion of State land including two shops constructed illegally albeit in gross violation of municipal rules on the main road were demolished on spot with the assistance of municipal authorities in presence of concerned Tehsildar, thereby retrieving the State land from the clenches of encroachers.
The State Vigilance Commission while taking on record quick action taken by the Tehsildar Iddgah namely Nusrat in getting back a portion of the land from illegal possessors, further, directed the officers to ensure timely legal action against violators of law and retrieve the remaining encroachment as well in order to prevent the State property from illegal grabbing.
