State land worth Rs 80 lakh retrieved, demarcated in Chowki Choura area

JAMMU, Sept 30: The Revenue team of Tehsil Chowki Choura with the assistance of local police retrieved and demarcated 5 kanals of State land, falling in Khasra numbers 38 & 39 and situated at a prime location on Akhnoor-Poonch National Highway.
The exercise of requisite demarcation had been carried out/completed two days earlier by the Tehsildar and his Revenue Team in presence of all the concerned stakeholders but today while the Revenue Team was on job, the encroachers created hindrance.
To peacefully solve the issue, Sub Divisional Magistrate Chowki Choura, Virender Gupta along with Tehsildar Chowki Choura Dr Raman Jandyal visited Village Tilla, where the land was located and sensitized the encroachers about the serious repercussions of encroaching the State (Roshni) Land and resultantly the Tehsildar Chowki Choura was able to retrieve the Roshani Land, situated at prime location, alongside Akhnoor-Poonch National Highway.
The present estimated cost of the evicted land is more than Rs 80 lakh being situated at the focal point of Chowki Choura Sub Division, ipso facto this land is being proposed to be used for construction of a Mini Secretariat housing all the Government Institutions under one roof, i.e. for the easy access of its inhabitants.
Later, the SDM along with Tehsildar and concerned Block Development Officer visited Ward number 1 of Panchayat Chowki to assess the apprehension of land-sliding that could damage certain number of houses in the area. Accompanying BDO was directed by the SDM to construct a breast wall at all the requisite patches of Ward number 1.
