State level apex committee to monitor implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission

JAMMU, Aug 10:  For implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) in Jammu and Kashmir, the State Government has accorded sanction for constitution of a State Level Apex Committee.
The committee, headed by the Chief Secretary, will prepare and approve online publishing of the State Sanitation Strategy (SS) for the State and City Sanitation Plan (CSP) for all the cities covered under SBM (Urban).
It will finalize the concept note on the urban sanitation situation before submission to the SBM National Mission Director and will also advise the State Mission Director.
The committee will approve engagement of consultants/specialists and other persons required as per the guidelines under SBM (Urban) and prepare plan for additional resources mobilization. It will also prepare plan for fund flow in the short, medium and long term; monitor outcome and O&M arrangement of projects sanctioned and completed under the Mission; ensure coverage of action for sanitation in the State and bring about inter-department coordination for this purpose as and when required; ensure timely audit of funds release and review the Action Taken Report; review legal issues, if any, and take up any other matters relevant for efficient implementation of the mission or matter referred to it by the SBM, National Mission Directorate.
The 13-member committee will comprise of Administrative Secretaries of Planning & Development Department, HUDD, Finance Department, PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Department, RDD & Panchayati Raj; representative of Mission Director Swachh Bharat Mission, Ministry of Urban Development GoI, Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu/Kashmir. Commissioner Jammu Municipal   Corporation, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Joint Director (P&S), H&UDD.
