State level Calligraphy workshop begins at Chadoora

Budgam, July 26: With the aim of creating awareness about the latest advancements in the calligraphy art among budding calligraphers of state, a 15-day state level Urdu calligraphy workshop was inaugurated at here today.
The workshop is being organized by Sheikh ul Aalam Calligraphy and cultural organization in collaboration with National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) New Delhi. The programme was inaugurated by noted Urdu scholar Prof Zaman Azurdah at Aglow Educational Institute Chadoora Budgam.
While addressing the participants, Prof Zaman Azudrah said that there is an urgent need to create awareness about Urdu calligraphy art among the new generation as people of Kashmir has an emotional attachment with the art that has been introduced in Kashmir many centuries ago by revered Islamic scholars of central Asia.
Noted scholar of fine arts and former Dean at Jamia Millia Islamia Prof Zargar Zahoora presided over the function. He spoke about the role of colours and human behavior. Among others who spoke on the occasion included Prof Bashar Bashir, SDM Chadoora Aziz Ahmad, Dr Gazanffar Ali, Dr Syed Ifthikar, Mohiudeen Ajiz, Mohammad Yasin Bhat and Gulzar Ahmad Bhat.
Social Activist and Chairman RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat while giving a vote of thanks urged upon organizers to hold such workshops for younger generation especially the school children.
