JAMMU, Dec 4: The State Level Project Presentation of 22nd National Children Science Congress 2014, being organized by National Council for Urban and Rural Development Society (NCURDS) Jammu began today here at Handa College of Education.
About 600 Child scientists drawn from across the length and breadth of the State will be presenting 110 Science based project in the program. Out of these, 16 projects will be shortlisted for national level NCSC, being held at Bangalore from December 27 to 31, 2014. The Teams from Kashmir region are being headed by Shabir Ahmed State Coordinator Kashmir and MY Zagoo State Academic Coordinator Kashmir.
The inaugural function was presided over by H R Pakhroo, Principal State Institute of Education Jammu whereas Dr P K Shrivastav, Dean Student Welfare, Jammu University, and Dr K K Kapoor, Professor Deptt of Chemistry, JU, were the guests of honor.
Mr Pakhroo said that the result oriented and science based education is the dire need of the present education system and NCURDS in the form of NCSC is doing a commendable job in this regard. He extended his full cooperation and help to the organization in organizing such programs for future.
Dr Ashiq Hussain, Chairman NCSC, briefed the child scientists about the aims and objectives of NCSC.
Dr Vikram Handa, Director, Handa College of Education & Principal, Tiny Tots Hr Sec School, lauded the efforts of NCURDS in promoting science and thereby inculcating scientific temperament among children and teachers.
Others who graced the occasion, included Gurpreet Handa, Kuldeep Gupta (State Academic Coordinator NCSC) and Surjeet Singh Master Resource Person NCSC.
