JAMMU, Nov 17: The Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh today said that the new parking facility coming up at Super Bazar Jammu would go a long way in addressing the parking issue of the people living in the old city besides streamlining the flow of traffic and solving the problems of the business community as well.
The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing officers during a meeting convened to discuss the execution of the new state of art, car parking facility coming up at Super Bazar with an estimated cost of Rs. 30.00 crore having a parking facility for 352 cars. The Project would be executed by ERA with the funding component being provided by the ADB.
Minister of State for Education, Information & Culture Priya Sethi, Commissioner/Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, Bipul Pathak, Chief Executive Officer, ERA, Vinod Sharma, Director School Education, Jammu, Smita Sethi and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers to ensure that the work is started as early as possible and they should also ensure that the bottlenecks, if any in the execution of the project are removed so that it gets completed within the stipulated time period.”
The project is of vital importance as people are facing acute shortage of the parking facilities besides it would also ease the flow of traffic in the area ensuring its greater manageability and we should work in tandem to ensure its timely completion”, he added.
Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister undertook a review meeting of the R&B Department to discuss the status of various developmental works undertaken in this sector besides the macadamization of the roads.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner/Secretary R&B, Rohit Kansal, Chief Engineer R&B Jammu and XEns of the division.
Dr. Singh directed the officers to fast pace the macdamization of the roads in Jammu division so that better accessibility is provided to the people of the area. He said that ever since the Government took over it has been its endeavor to provide good motorable roads to the people of the State so that better connectivity is provided to them which would go a long way in opening the new vistas of development in Jammu & Kashmir.
