State witnessed all round development during Azad’s tenure : DyCM

BUMAI (SOPORE), July 16: Assuring people of fulfilling all their genuine demands in phased manner, the Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today said that Sopore constituency would be developed on modern lines for which a massive development plan has been formulated to improve the basic needs of the people.
The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a large attended public gathering at Dharpora Bumai in Sopore today.
Minister and MLA, G.M.Saroori, Senior Congrees leader and former MLA Sopore, Haji Abdul Rasheed Dar,  besides senior Congress leaders Channi Singh, Narinder Sharma, Mir Mushtaq Ahmad and Shearwani were present and spoke on the occasion.
Deputy Chief Minister said that Centre is keen for development of Jammu and Kashmir, adding the liberal funding helped State in completion and implementation of several big projects.
Mr Tara Chand said that State witnessed all round development during the tenure of Ghulan Nabi Azad as Chief Minister of the state, adding that the formation of NC-Congress coalition was aimed to take forward the projects initiated by him.  He said Centre has approved a number of projects under PHE, Power, R&B and Education and Health sectors , adding on completion of these projects the development scenario would get new flip.
Mr. Saroori while speaking on the occasion asked people to be foresighted and differentiate between right and wrong. He said the tenure of Ghulam Nabi Azad was golden period in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, adding the development and work culture during his period  is worth to remember.
Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the works undertaken for the development of Sopore Town, particularly by Housing Department.
MLA, Sopore, Mohamamd Ashraf and Director Local Bodies besides senior officers of various departments were present on the occasion.
The Deputy Chief Minister asked officers to speed up all ongoing projects and ensure that the same are completed in time. He asked officers to submit the utilization certificates so that more projects, are cleared from the Centre.
The meeting was informed that a drainage project of Rs. 12 crore is under implementation, out of which Rs. 3.98 crore stands expended so far. It was given out that 107 kanal of land has been identified for construction of bus stand, a long pending demand of people of Sopore, apart from 75 kanal for disposed of solid waste.
