State’s integrity under threat: Mir

KHANABAL, Aug 12: Describing the present atmosphere of unrest in the State as most unfortunate and disturbing, PCC chief  Gulam Ahmed Mir has cautioned the people against the dangerous politics of exploitation aiming to disturb the socio- economic set up and secular fabric of the State.
Asserting that Congress Party would not allow anyone to play with the sentiments of people by communalizing the  situation, Mir said that the approach of  Modi led Govt towards J&K State  is  full of contradictions,  PCC chief  said while addressing a day long convention of Party workers from Homeshalibug (Kulgam) at Dak Bunglow Khanabal today.
Launching attack on the  Modi led Govt for mishandling J&K  situation and  posing great threat to security and integrity of the State, Mir accused the Central Govt of  its failure to address the aspiration of the people. He alleged that Central Govt  is directly responsible for present  mess and vitiated atmosphere  in the State.
Taking strong exception to the contradictions in the approach of Centre and State Govt toward J&K and playing politics of exploitation of  regional and religious sentiments, PCC chief said that it has pushed the State on the path of mistrust and destruction. Cautioning the people about the divisive forces,  Mir exhorted the Congress cadres and other secular forces to defeat such designs and work for strengthening brotherhood and   integrity of the State.
PCC chief  lashed out at both the Govts  for indulging in polarizing politics in the State which is posing a threat to integrity of the State.  He said Congress party is concerned for the welfare and development of the State and its people. He said Congress would fight and defeat those forces which are hell bent to divide people on region or religion lines.
Speaking  on the occasion Peerzada Mohd Syeed said that Congress Party has always served the people to the best of its ability and have never believed or indulged in region or religion politics. He said Congress party has always advocated  for equal development of all the three regions of the State.
Former Minister Taj Mohi- ud- Din castigated both PDP and BJP for trying to curb opponents’ on one pretext or the other, not only political opponents, but those who raise their head against the anti- people policies of the Centre and State Govts. He assured the people that Congress Party is committed about welfare  and development of the State and people.
MLA  Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, MLA Mohd Amin Bhat, MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani,   general secretaries Hilal Ahmad Shah, Surinder Singh Channi, District presidents Anayatullah Rather, Abdul Qayoom Shah and Shaheena Nadaf also spoke on the occasion.
