JAMMU, Aug 2: Panun Kashmir (PK) while expressing satisfaction over the statement of Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh over deportation of Rohingyas to their country after detection, said the stay of these illegal immigrants in various states particularly in a sensitive State of J&K is a risk to the security and law and order situation in the State in general and Jammu region in particular. “Neither we can absolve the role of those politicians who were responsible for their camping in the Jammu city and its suburbs over the last 15 years nor the society can shut its eyes towards their illegal stay in the State”, PK president, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo told reporters here, today.
These illegal immigrants who also include some Bangladeshis have been allowed to be engaged in regular economic and social activity in the Jammu province, he said, adding their comforts are being taken care of by the political class and some NGOs and their detection and deportation is contested and also given a communal colour.
He said P K takes strong objection to the silence of a section of the political class on the issue. “We demand that necessary action to detect and deport them be taken up with the Union Home Ministry”, he added.
Chrungoo said KPs are the worst hit by Article 35A which was introduced in the Constitution of India without any Parliamentary sanction in 1954 through a promulgation of the President of India. Since it has been put to the legal scrutiny in the Supreme Court of India, any protest against its hearing is tantamount to pressurizing the Apex Court on the issue. Moreover, the forces who have been opposing the Constitution of India in the State all along have no reason to be concerned about the existence or abrogation of Article 35A, he added .
The Art35A and Art370 have been nourishing the sentiment of separatism and autonomy for the last several decades in the State and have created a feeling of a “State within a State”, he said.
Virender Raina, national spokesperson-PK said the displaced community of Kashmir has been vigorously following the issue of Temples & Shrines Bill for the protection and preservation of the temples and shrines in Kashmir. The K Ps are unanimously supporting the Bill and is overwhelmingly looking up to the Government and the Governor’s rule in this regard.
Kamal Bagati, general secretary (Org.) and Sameer Bhat, convener, PK Youth were also present in the press conference.
