KISHTWAR, May 5: In a heart wrenching incident, Police here today worked out the murder case of a minor girl in village Keshwan and arrested her step-mother.
One Ruksana Begum, wife of Mohd Amin, resident of village Keshwan approached cops this morning after her minor daughter, 2 years of age, went missing and was last seen with her step mother yesterday and search by the family members for duo yielded nothing.
Police registered a complaint in FIR No. 100/2023 U/S 363 IPC at Police Station Kishtwar and started investigation.
Khalil Poswal, SSP Kishtwar constituted a special investigation team headed by Ashish Gupta, DySP HQ Kishtwar and led by Inspector Abid Hussain, SHO Kishtwar and Vikram Singh, SI Incharge Police Post, Thakrie.
The team arrested the suspect step-mother Zahida Begum who during interrogation admitted to have killed the minor and dumped her body in forest area.
On her disclosure the body was recovered along with weapon of offence.
FSL team collected evidences for investigation and the body was brought to District Hospital Kishtwar for autopsy.
Section 302 IPC was added in the list of offences.
Motive behind the murder is being ascertained by cops.
