Step up vigil to check activities of anti-national elements: IGP

JAMMU, Aug 8: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Danish Rana reviewed the security arrangements ahead of Independence Day celebrations.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of Security Forces, Police, Security, Traffic, Intelligence Agencies and Civil Administration.
During the meeting, the discussion on various security measures in the run up to August 15 vis-a-vis progress of the security and other allied arrangements being made for the Independence Day celebration and present prevailing security scenario in Kashmir valley were held.
Detailed intelligence assessment by State and Central Intelligence Agencies, DIG JK Range, SSP Jammu, SSP Security, SSP Samba, ASP Kathua and ASP Traffic on account of the security arrangements that have been put in place for August 15 in and around Jammu City including Border areas were made. They also spoke about the police, security and traffic arrangements that are being proposed to be made for Independence Day celebrations.
ASP Traffic was directed to issue traffic advisory at least three days advance through print and electronic media regarding traffic restrictions in Jammu City to avoid any inconvenience to the general public. Similarly, the concerned officers of civil administration gave a detailed account of the arrangements they have put in place for celebrations of August 15.
Detailed deliberations were held on all the points concerning parade contingents, preparation of venue, anti-sabotage checks of the venues, barricading, and traffic arrangements in the City and at the venue, fire services, medical facilities and other contingencies for Independence Day Celebrations. Detailed instructions were issued on spot to the concerned officers for further follow up action on certain points requiring further action.
IGP Jammu Danish Rana asked the officers to work in close coordination with each other for greater synergy as the goal is common. He asked the Intelligence Agencies, Police and SFs Officers to step up vigil and security in the District right from now onwards to check any attempt of infiltration, movement of anti-national elements and forestall any ill-conceived plan of terrorists. During the meeting the district SSPs were directed to review the security  of vital installations religious places , minority pockets , crowded places and Policed/PMF establishments to ensure utmost alertness . Besides, a close watch should be kept on social media activities.
The intelligence agencies also give their assessments about the prevailing situation particularly in Chenab Valley and Rajouri and Poonch Districts.
