Stick to rules while treating victims of sexual assault: Govt

Srinagar, June 20: Govt today directed all the doctors and the administrators of the hospitals to strictly adhere to the guidelines while treating the victims of sexual assault, rape or sexual violence.
The circular has been issued by the Health and Medical Education Department to all the Medical Superintendents, doctors, and staff working in all Govt hospitals including associated hospital and SKIMS.
“The Health and Medical Education Department has issued circular instructions to the heads of all the Health Care Institutions, Director SKIMS, Soura/ Principal of all Medical Colleges/ Director Health Services (Kashmir/Jammu) and impressed upon them to direct all the Medical Superintendents/ Doctors and Paramedical Staff posted in Government Hospital including Associated Hospitals to strictly adhere to the guidelines formulated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India…while treating the victims of sexual assault, rape or sexual violence,” it said.
“Directions have been issued that any lapse in the implementation of these guidelines by any member of the medical fraternity shall be dealt seriously,” he said.
